Out With The Old In With The Nude

11 Jul

Generally when it’s time for me to remove my makeup, I immediately reach for makeup wipes. But when I have to take off an extra intense smokey eye or a hard to remove product, Clean and Clear Soothing Eye Makeup Remover. Serious this stuff takes off everything. I have really sensitive eyes so it being fragrance free and safe for contact lens wearers was a big plus. It makes removing my eye makeup so easy. But sadly it’s all gone. It was good to me to the very last drop. Dare I say it, I liked it better than the infamous Lancome Bi-Facial makeup remover. So RIP Clean and Clear Soothing Eye Makeup Remover. You’ll be missed.

Swatch of Revealing on top, High Tea on the bottom

But don’t worry I’m not too crushed. I’m in product love with a new product. I recently bought a new mac lipstick in High Tea. Oh sweet Jesus, it was love at first application. It glides on so smooth and it’s not drying at all. It’s a sheer golden color. On its own it provides a really pretty gold sheen that is perfect for when I want to keep things light and simple for the hot Sacramento days. I also like to pair it with a gloss. High Tea + mac Love Nectar makes a pretty baby pink with plenty of gold shimmer that looks amazing with bronzey eye. Or when topped with Revealing Lip Glass, you get a creamy nude that looks great with a smokey eye. If you want to keep things simple just slick any clear gloss over it and it will look great with just about anything. Typing this post makes me want to go experiment with even more combinations. With that said, I hope you all are have a fabulous day.

*The clean and clear soothing eye makeup remover was sent to me through a BzzAgent campaign, but my review was in no way influence by this

The Cutest Brushes Ever

5 Jul

Anyone who knows me knows that as much as I love shopping, I do not like spending money. So anytime I can find good beauty products at a discount price, I’m a very happy camper. I was helping my brother shop for an outfit to wear to his friend’s 8th grade promotion when I came across these babies at Marshalls.

For 5 dollars, I could resist getting one a blush brush and an eyeshadow brush. I don’t care what anyone says you can never have too many eyeshadow brushes. Plus they were hot pink with little rhinestones! If I were born a brush, I would be an Essential Beauty brush.
I immediately took them home and gave them a very thorough washing. As great as their prices are, Marshalls isn’t exactly know for having the most hygienic shoppers. I know very well that those brushes have been opened up and felt on by more than one customer. These brushes are super soft. I love them. Compared to my ecoTools blush and eyeshadow brushes, these ones win hands down. I can’t wait to go back and get some more!

Fourth of July FOTD: Throwback Edition

4 Jul

I didn’t get to take a picture of my makeup this fourth of July before I wiped it all off and went swimming so I decided to show you guys a look I did last 4th of July. This is probably one of the first FOTDs I had ever taken a picture of. I love looking at it because it reminds me of how far my makeup skills have come. I don’t know what I was thinking or if I wore this look out but haha I’ve come quite far. I think my favorite part of this look it the little splotch of fallout that I failed to clean up

Photobucket

Anyways I hope you all had a really fun 4th of July. I simply went to church and then went to a pool party at a family friend’s house. They had a really nice pool and it felt sooooo good to swim for the first time in a few years. We had the best ice cream cake you could ever image. I’ve never tasted chocolate so good in my life. All in all it was a chill but fun fourth of July.

Zodiac Series: Pisces

29 Jun

So far we’ve done 7 signs, but unfortunately I don’t have pictures of all of them yet. I had to take pictures of Pisces because this has been my absolute favorite one yet. My model’s name was Lillian and she was an absolute trooper. Since pisces is a fish, I wanted to give her some really pretty scales. We had to get a little creative and use a tennis racquet to get the shape we wanted.

For her scales, I used blues, purples, and green from my 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette. The rhinestone I found at Michael’s for like 2 dollars.

Then for her eyes, I wanted to do something smokey and blue using:
-Urban Decay Shattered
-MAC Reflects Transparent Teal
-Navy blue eyeshadows from the 88 shimmer palette
-Matte navy blue eyeshadow from Wet N Wild Color Icon palette in Pride
-A shimmer champagne color for highlight

I had hella fun doing this look, and I hope you all enjoy it.

My Makeup Staples

23 Jun

I’m a big believer in if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. So when it comes to my makeup, I find myself returning to my same favorites over and over. These are items that I use pretty much every day.

Maybelline Eyeshadow in Nutmeg
As you can see, I’ve clearly hit pan on this baby because I love her so much. I love using this color to blend right above my crease. It really pulls everything together and completes my look. My true favorite is Maybelline Cream de Cocoa, but unfortunately, mine shattered at cheer camp =( For a similar effect, just get any matte eyeshadow that’s similar to your skintone.

EOS Lipbalm & MAC Lipglass in Love Nectar
You can just look at these and tell how much I use these. EOS lipbalm is super smooth, smells yummy, and is natural. It’s my favorite lipbalm ever. Love Nectar is such a pretty pinky peach color with little gold shimmers. If you’ve never had a MAC lipglass, its like happiness in a tube.

MAC Mineralize Blush in Gentle
This was my first MAC blush, and I’m hooked. MAC describes it as a raspberry with gold pearl. It looks slightly purple in the pan, but it’s gorgeous on. The gold acts like a highlight and really makes your cheeks pop. I’ve been wearing it every day since Christmas. I feel naked without it.

L’Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil/Stila Eye Kajal
I use these two pretty much interchangeably. They’re both really dark and creamy. If you’re looking for an intense black eyeliner, I’d suggest getting one of these.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous
This is my mascara of the moment, and it’ll probably change in a month or so. I really want to try CoverGirl Lash Blast Fusion, but this one does a nice job of volumizing and enhancing my natural curl.

Foundation
My foundation at the moment is Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Your Skin Makeup, Inspired By Carmindy. Goodness do you think they could have thought of a longer name for some makeup? I’m testing this one out for a couple reasons. 1. It was on clearance for like 2 bucks at Ulta. 2. I enjoy me some what not to wear. 3. It has a pump. Now as much as I love my favorite foundation, Revlon ColorStay, it lacks a pump. But no foundation I try seems to be able to make me fall in love like Colorstay does.

Urban Decay Primer Potion & Translucent Powder
I have extremely oily eyelids, and when I say extremely oily I mean my eyelids eat eyeshadow for breakfast. If I don’t properly prime my eyelids, I can start creasing before I’m even finished doing my makeup. I’m so serious guys. I wouldn’t be saying it if it hadn’t happened before. I had tried the infamous UDPP before and even that wouldn’t do the trick. I had given up all hope until someone on Specktra told me to set it with a powder, and I’ve been in love ever since.

Tape
My last staple may seem a little strange to some of you, but I love my tape! I use scotch tape to get really clean edges when I do my eyeshadow. Some people think its too harsh, but I absolutely adore my tape. If you’ve never tried it before, give it a shot.

What’s on my eyes this week?

21 Jun

I considered doing daily FOTD posts, but then I realized a lot of what I keep on my face everyday is the same, but what changes is my eyes. So instead, at the end of each week, I’ll post a collection of what I wore and what I used.

On Tuesday, I did a purple and green look inspired by Petrilude. This look features:
-Urban Decay Gridlock
-MAC Grape Pigment
-CS Creative Me C7
-Deep green from 88 Shimmer Palette
-Stila Eye Kajal in Onyx
-Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous

Then on Thursday, I did a super easy smokey eye using a shimmery champagne eyeshadow, a matte dark brown, and a matte black eyeshadow. This look features:

-Urban Decay Perversion
-Maybelline Nutmeg
-NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean
-NYX Jumbo Pencil in Iced Mocha
-Urban Decay Gridlock
– Stila Eye Kajal in Onyx
-Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous

My hands down favorite look this week was this look I did on Sunday using the complimentary colors blue and orange. This look features:

-Urban Decay Baked (my fav. gold eyeshadow <3)
-CS Creative Me C4
-Maybelline Nutmeg
-Wet N Wild Idol Eyes pencil
-Teal eyeshadow from 88 shimmer palette
-Stila Eye Kajal in Onyx
-Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptous

That's all until next week loves.

My Salsa Makes All The Pretty Girls Dance

16 Jun

Well at least my new China Glaze in Salsa makes ME want to dance. It’s such a pretty red with a nice shimmer to it. It’s my first “nice” nail polish and I love it!There’s something about red that just really makes my nails stand out. This polish was just calling my name when I was in Sallys.

Here’s some tips to help you manicure last even longer:

Using a basecoat will help prevent that yucky staining that dark nail polishes tend to leave. Using a topcoat adds shine to your nails and helps prevent chipping. My Sally Hansen Double Life Base & Top Coat does both for the price of one =)

If you’re really worried about chipped polish, drag the brush across the edge of your nail. This will leave a little line of nail polish under your nail and further prevent chips.

It won’t necessarily make your manicure last longer, but running semi dry nails under cold water will make them dry faster.
